GGF Educates Community on Biogas Utilization from Cow Manure

East Lampung, 2021 – Great Giant Foods (GGF) continues to apply the circular economy principle by maximizing the value of waste not only for the company but also for surrounding communities. One initiative is the biogas training program, which introduces techniques for converting cow manure into renewable energy.

The training was held at Thobul Qolbi Mosque, Dusun I Rantaujaya Udik, Sukadana District, East Lampung Regency, while still adhering to COVID-19 health protocols. It was officially opened by Head of Region I Section of Way Kambas National Park, Bayu Aji Saputra, and attended by 20 local residents.

According to Gilang M. Nugraha, Assistant Manager of People & Community Sustainability at GGF, the training serves as a way to share practical knowledge on how cow manure can be processed into biogas for household use.

“Through this biogas introduction training, we hope the community can gain new knowledge that brings direct benefits to their daily lives,” said Gilang.

During the session, Julius Sugarjato, Sustainability Project Expert Manager at GGF, explained that improperly managed cow manure can cause health and environmental problems. However, with proper processing, it can produce biogas—an eco-friendly energy source—while the by-products can still be used as organic fertilizer.

Meanwhile, Bayu Aji Saputra praised GGF’s contribution, saying that the training provided valuable insights for members of the Forest Farmers Group under the assistance of Way Kambas National Park.

One participant, Tumin, expressed his enthusiasm after learning about the process. He and other residents are now interested in building simple biogas installations made of cement, fiber, or plastic to start utilizing cow manure more effectively.

Jakarta, September 10, 2020 – Sunpride proudly received the Marketeers Omni Brands of the Year 2020 award at the Hermawan Kertajaya Town Hall, 88 Office Tower Jakarta. The award was presented directly by Hermawan Kertajaya, Founder & Chairman of MarkPlus, Inc., to Cindyanto Kristian, CEO of PT Sewu Segar Nusantara. This recognition further strengthens Sunpride’s achievements, following its win as Best Branded Fruit at the Indonesia Original Brand (IOB) Awards in July 2020.

Sunpride’s success lies in its ability to leverage technology and execute an omnichannel strategy that ensures consistent quality and consumer trust. In today’s pandemic era, brands are required to integrate online and offline approaches to stay resilient and relevant. Sunpride’s OMNI strategy extends beyond marketing—it also serves as a communication platform to highlight Sunpride’s commitment as a fruit brand with Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P.) certification.

This international certification ensures that Cavendish Bananas, Crystal Guavas, and Honi Pineapples produced by PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) meet global standards in four key aspects:

  1. Food Safety

  2. Eco-Friendly Practices

  3. Safety & Welfare

  4. Traceability

With this foundation, Sunpride guarantees that every fruit reaching consumers is not only fresh but also safe and of the highest quality.

Through its OMNI strategy, Sunpride continues to strengthen consumer engagement by maximizing digital platforms and delivering creative, relevant social media content. On the offline side, Sunpride also holds in-store activations that highlight consumer protection and the benefits of G.A.P. certification.

“Thank you to Marketeers for recognizing us as a brand that has successfully optimized technology to strengthen our identity. Most importantly, this award motivates us to continue maintaining consumer trust by delivering quality fruits that are always safe to consume,”
said Cindyanto Kristian, CEO of PT Sewu Segar Nusantara.

Sunpride Wins IOB 2020 “Best Branded Fruit” Award for the Third Time

Jakarta, July 13, 2020 – Sunpride once again reaffirmed its position as Indonesia’s leading fruit brand by receiving the Indonesia Original Brand (IOB) 2020 Award in the category Best Branded Fruit. This marks the third achievement for Sunpride after previously winning the same award in 2016 and 2017.

This year’s award ceremony felt different as it was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the online format did not lessen the value of the recognition, which continues to highlight Sunpride’s commitment to providing high-quality and safe-to-consume fruit for the Indonesian people.

The IOB Award, organized by SWA Magazine, is based on a quantitative survey conducted annually through interviews with users of original Indonesian brands. Using the Multistage Random Sampling technique, the survey spans around 108 categories, across six major cities (Medan, Bandung, Jabodetabek, Semarang, Surabaya, and Makassar), involving 5,000 respondents from February to March each year.

The assessment is based on four key parameters:

  1. Satisfaction

  2. Loyalty

  3. Advocacy

  4. Comparison of Local vs. Foreign Brands

Winning this award in the midst of the pandemic is a true honor for Sunpride and aligns with its long-standing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and quality—from the plantation to the consumers’ hands.

Luthfiany Azwawie, Head of PM & Marketing Sunpride, expressed her gratitude:

“It is a great honor for Sunpride, as an Indonesian brand, to compete with fruit brands from abroad. We hope this recognition and the survey results will continue to strengthen consumer trust in Sunpride’s commitment to always provide the best. We also aspire to keep contributing positively to the development and promotion of Indonesian fruit, both locally and globally.”

The visit, accompanied by Sunarko from Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed to explore opportunities for expanding exports of GGF products to the Middle East and strengthening international partnerships.

The delegation was received by Wayan Ardana, GGF Production Director, alongside the company’s senior management team. In his remarks, Ardana highlighted GGF’s strong presence in the region, with 368 containers of canned pineapple exported in 2017—including 301 to Saudi Arabia, 22 to Yemen, 12 to Kuwait, 5 to Bahrain, 13 to Lebanon, 9 to Qatar, and 26 to the United Arab Emirates.
