First Harvest of Cavendish Bananas in Pekutatan

The first harvest of cavendish bananas at the Mitra Nusantara Abadi Cooperative, Banjar Segah, Asahduren Village, Pekutatan District, as a form of partnership between PT Nusantara Segar Abadi (NSA) and farmers who are accommodated in the Mitra Nusantara Abadi Cooperative.

During the first harvest, Jembrana Regent I Nengah Tamba immediately attended the harvest on Wednesday, November 2, 2021. Jembrana Regent I Nengah Tamba after the first harvest of Cavendish bananas expressed his gratitude to PT NSA for being serious about empowering farmers in Jembrana to participate developing Cavendish bananas on less productive lands.

“I thank Mr. Welly Soegiono as a representative of PT NSA, who has succeeded in guiding banana farmers to successfully carry out this first harvest. From the beginning, our farmers have been given seeds for free, then planted them for 9 months and also assisted during the maintenance process, and most importantly the harvest has been purchased, it means that from upstream to downstream has been completed and of course that is what we really hope for, “said I Nengah Tamba.

The Regent of Tamba hopes that in the future more and more farmers in Jembrana will be involved in developing Cavendish banana horticulture. Meanwhile, Welly Soegiono, a representative from PT NSA, said that this was a form of empowering farmers’ lands in Jembrana.

“This is able to meet the needs of local bananas, especially in Bali, so they are no longer imported from Lampung. Moreover, it is also in accordance with the Bali Governor Regulation Number 99 of 2018 concerning the Utilization of Agricultural Products, Fisheries and Local Bali Industries.” close Welly.

Nyoman Sudana as the first farmer to develop Cavendish bananas in Jembrana and partnering with PT NSA said that he started to plant Cavendish bananas in collaboration with PT NSA about 10 months ago. “Interest in the development of Cavendish bananas, because in terms of harvest, within 10 months it can be harvested,” he said
