GGP Becomes Lampung’s Locus for 2021 National Export Release

Lampung, December 23, 2021PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) participated in the National Export Release Ceremony at the end of 2021, officiated by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Lutfi. The hybrid event was held from 17 points across 26 provinces, with the main ceremony taking place at PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, Karawang International Industrial City, West Java.

From Lampung Province, the export release was centered at PT GGP, attended by the Ministry of Trade’s Expert Staff for International Trade, Arlinda. Nationwide, the ceremony involved 278 exporters from 62 districts, including 54 SMEs and 224 non-SMEs, with export destinations covering both traditional markets (87%) and non-traditional markets (13%) such as Tonga, Colombia, Pakistan, and Cambodia.

Arlinda highlighted Lampung’s strategic role as an agricultural hub, contributing significantly to national production of key commodities such as rice, corn, cassava, sugar, robusta coffee, canned pineapple, and bananas.

“From January to November 2021, Lampung’s exports contributed USD 4.4 billion, or 2.1% of national exports. PT GGP is among the largest contributors, as the world’s biggest pineapple exporter,” Arlinda said, while thanking GGP for hosting the ceremony in Lampung.

She added that the national export release is designed to inspire business players to continue expanding their global markets while driving product innovation and competitiveness.

Supporting this, Kusnardi, Assistant II for Economy and Development of Lampung Province, noted that the pandemic period marked Lampung’s highest export value in a decade, reaching USD 4.02 billion in January–October 2021 alone.

“Lampung’s leading products—such as robusta coffee, tapioca, coconut milk, pineapple, and bananas—hold vast potential to expand exports. To achieve this, synergy between local governments, agricultural quarantine, customs, and Pelindo is essential, ensuring added value and supply continuity for farmers’ products to penetrate the global market,” Kusnardi concluded.
