Great Giant Foods (GGF), Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung received a visit from lecturers and professors of FMIPA, University of Lampung (Unila), Thursday (11/8/22).
Visiting activities in order to carry out cooperation with GGF in the form of education, research and community service. Present at the visit were the Head of the Department (Kajur) and the Head of the MIPA Faculty Cooperation Team.
The visiting guest was received by representatives of GGF management, Pardi Tanojo as LOB & Compost Production Head accompanied by GGF External CRD, Aris Kristiawan Nugroho. In addition to dialogue, group guests also had the opportunity to visit the LOB production ITN factory and the central laboratory.
“Our presence at GGF wants to strengthen the collaboration between GGF and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unila whose goal is to send several students to do internships at the company for 1 semester or for 4 months,” said Dian Herasari as Head of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Lampung.
“The important point is, for 1 semester our students will do internships at GGF and will be converted into 20 credits of lectures on campus and several other forms of collaborative activities related to education with GGF,” he continued.
Dian Herasari added that this collaboration is in line with the message of the ministry of education regarding the Merdeka Campus which wants students to have as many activities outside the campus as possible to hone skills according to their talents and interests by going directly into the world of work as a comprehensive future career preparation.
“The company’s response has been very good and although this is still an exploratory stage, we are optimistic that this program can be carried out this semester. The plan is to be able to send students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unila to GGF in early September,” said Dian.
Meanwhile, Pardi Tanojo said that the Merdeka Campus program was more real and applicable. For example, what innovations are owned by universities and the private sector can be collaborated with each other so that in essence they both contribute to educating the younger generation.
“With this collaboration, what is being researched is really beneficial for companies and universities. Students get more experience and there are many innovations that can be done together,” said Pardi Tanojo.
For example, last year there was an internship student from IPB for 5 months at GGF. During the internship period, he was able to present 6 topics that could be applied for improvement in our place. After graduating, he applied to work here and was accepted into the LEAP program, he explained.
