Great Giant Foods Supports Health Workers Through Covid-19 Donation Programs

Jakarta, August 2021 – Great Giant Foods (GGF), together with the Indonesian Ministry of Health and Habitat for Humanity Indonesia, once again showed its commitment to supporting health workers on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic.

GGF’s collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Indonesia was realized through a cash donation of IDR 300 million for the Medical Warriors Shelter Program. The virtual handover ceremony took place on Friday, August 13, 2021, with PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) External Affairs Director Welly Soegiono officially handing over the donation to Susanto Samsudin, National Director of Habitat for Humanity Indonesia.

In partnership with the Ministry of Health, GGF also donated 2,500 kg of Sunpride Crystal Guava to the Covid-19 Hajj Dormitory Emergency Hospital, Pondok Gede, East Jakarta. The handover, conducted on Thursday, August 12, 2021, was represented by GGF Head of FMCG Eva Arisuci Rudjito and received by dr. Mukti Eka Rahadian, M.Kes, MPH, as person in charge of philanthropy logistics.

Beyond these initiatives, GGF also extended support to 18 hospitals across Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bogor with additional products, including 2,500 liters of Hometown Dairy milk, 1,250 bottles of Re.juve juice, and 2,000 Belfoods chicken rice boxes, aimed at boosting the immunity of health workers.

“During this Covid-19 pandemic, GGF consistently carries out social activities—from distributing free masks and hazmat suits, to providing healthy food, Sunpride fruits, Hometown milk, and even oxygen supplies for hospitals in Java, Bali, and Lampung. This is our way of showing care for the community and health workers who are at the frontline of this fight,” said Welly Soegiono, Director of External Affairs PT GGP.

“Through the GGF for Tangguh Indonesia program, our goal is to continuously support health workers and communities affected by the pandemic. We also invite consumer participation to help fund the Medical Warriors Shelter Program through Habitat for Humanity by purchasing GGF products in stores from August to September 2021,” added Eva Arisuci Rudjito, Head of FMCG GGF.

According to Susanto Samsudin, National Director of Habitat for Humanity Indonesia, the Medical Warriors Shelter Program has already helped more than 1,900 health workers access safe, proper rest facilities, preventing virus transmission to their families.

“We are deeply grateful to GGF for sharing the same commitment and supporting us in continuing this program,” he said.

Similarly, dr. Mukti Eka Rahadian from the Ministry of Health emphasized the importance of this support, hoping that the assistance would benefit both health workers and patients at Wisma Haji Covid-19 Emergency Hospital.
