In Lampung, PT GGP Banana Partnership Spreads Across 7 Districts

The partnership program of PT Great Giant Pineapple (PT GGP) with Banana Farmers through the Creating Shared Value (CSV) program is an example of a successful partnership in the agricultural industry in Indonesia.

Creating Shared Value is a development of the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Benefits involving shared value allow farmers to progress and the company will grow rapidly.

By partnering, banana farmers can obtain higher and more stable selling prices, so that income increases. In addition, PT GGP as a core partner provides better technology and resources, so that farmers can increase the efficiency and productivity of the farming business they are collaborating on.

PT GGP provides coaching and development to farmers, so that farmers can improve their abilities and knowledge on how to manage plants properly according to care standards.

“The most important thing is that by partnering, farmers can gain access to a wider market, so that they can increase sales and income,” explained Tanggamus Operation Department Head Waliyuddin.

In implementing partnership activities, PT GGP provides quality banana seeds for farmers and provides coaching and supervision to farmers to improve the quality and quantity of production.

At the end of 2024, the total banana partnerships that have joined PT GGP are 1,450 farmers with a land area of 540 hectares. The commodities being collaborated are Pisang Mas (the largest), Cavendish bananas, Barangan bananas, Kepok Kuning bananas, Raja Bulu bananas, and Kastani avocados which won first place in Lampung.

Currently, PT GGP’s banana partnerships in Lampung are in 7 districts, including Tanggamus, Pesisir Barat, Pring Sewu, South Lampung, Central Lampung, North Lampung, and West Lampung.

Waliyuddin explained that currently PT GGP’s banana partnerships have also begun to expand to the South Sumatra region, precisely in the areas of Ogan Kumering Ulu, Muara Dua, Danau Ranau,

“In Liwa itself, many farmers have joined and are very enthusiastic about planting Pisang Mas. It so happens that the soil there is fertile so that the growth of banana plants is also extraordinarily good. In Ranau and its surroundings, the harvest will start in January 2025,” he said.
