Mulyo, Building a Business Through a Cow People’s Core Enterprise (PIR) Partnership

Even though he no longer works at the company where he used to work at PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP), Mulyo, as a resident of RT 8, Dusun IV, Lempuyang Bandar, Way Pengubuan District, Central Lampung, does not necessarily give up on fate and stop his activities.

By taking advantage of partnership opportunities through the People’s Core Company (PIR) program carried out by PT Great Giant Livestock (GGL), Mulyo took the opportunity to partner by raising cattle through the PIR Sapi (Breeding pregnant cows) program.

“When I was still an active GGP employee, I participated in the PIR Self-Financing Cattle Fattening program, with my own capital of 12 cows. “For 8 years I participated in this cattle fattening program from 2000 to 2018, then took a break until I was approaching retirement from GGP,” explained Mulyo to the Gema Lampung Reporter when met at his residence, Monday (22/5).

“Thank God, after I retired, at the end of 2022, there was an offer from the GGL PIR Breeding Program (pregnant sires). “Because the main requirements are experience and driving facilities, I applied to join the partnership,” he continued.

“After being surveyed, it turned out that it was feasible to participate in the breeding program. Although at first there was doubt that he could not keep cows. “It turns out that after taking part in raising 6 pregnant cows and starting to give birth, there was more trust from the company,” said Mulyo.

Mulyo prepared the experience of raising cows long before his retirement came. “Apart from farming, I also raise cows, because this is a business I can do when I retire. “Alhamdulillah, by participating in this PIR partnership program we can become another economic source,” explained Mulyo.

Meanwhile, Mulyo is still focused on this breeding partnership. Extra supervision is needed if you have a pregnant cow, even though there are signs that the cow will give birth, the time when the cow will give birth is still tentative. You need to make sure not to leave the house empty, because birth can occur from day to night.

“When a cow is about to give birth, it must be separated from the others. There are other obstacles when the mother doesn’t want to breastfeed. Before giving birth, the cow is still docile, but after giving birth the cow can become fierce because she is guarding her calf. “So cleaning the cage will be difficult,” explained Mulyo.

After taking part in PIR Breeding, Mulyo explained that he did not keep other cows. Mulyo is ready to increase the number of cow pens because the company does not limit the number. As long as those involved in the partnership are able to look after and properly care for the pregnant mother cow until it gives birth, it will benefit both parties economically.

“It doesn’t matter if the cage is adequate, the care is good, there are many partnership programs from companies that can be enjoyed by the community. “This year alone, almost 1,200 heads, even up to 10,000 heads were released for partnership,” he said.

Realizing that the business opportunities from the PIR Cattle Partnership are quite large, after retiring from his permanent job as a GGP employee, Mulyo is determined to participate in the PIR Cattle Partnership program since 2022, a breeding partnership program for 6 cows.

This effortlessly also inspires friends who are approaching retirement to still be able to work. According to Mulyo, what he was doing had actually been prepared for a long time, when he was still an employee. In the midst of his busy schedule as a worker, the man who is familiarly called Mas Mul made up his mind to start participating in the PIR Self-Help Cattle Fattening partnership program which is stabled in his yard.
