PT Umas Jaya Agrotama (PT UJA), Terbangibesar, received a visit from the Director of AKABI, Director of PPHTP, Baintelkam Polri in order to monitor Cassava in Central Lampung.

Director of AKABI, Directorate General of TP, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dyah Susikarti, accompanied by the Director of Food Crop Processing and Marketing (PPHTP) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Batara Siagian, and the Head of the Intelligence and Security Agency (Baintelkam) Commissioner General. Pol. Syahar Diantono.

Warmly welcomed by the management of Great Giant Foods (GGF) – PT UJA including Director of External Affairs Welly Soegiono, Corporate Affair Lampung Subdiv Head Hendri Tanujaya, Plant Base Production Head Adas Widiasmoro, and UJA Production Head Ammar Viko Wicaksono.

In addition to holding a short meeting and dialogue around the cassava issue, the group also reviewed the tapioca production location and took samples of starch content, Saturday (1/2/25).

On that occasion, Dyah emphasized the importance of collaboration between local governments, ministries, and industry in advancing the agricultural sector, especially in maintaining the stability of cassava selling prices for farmers.

The visit was based on the turmoil among cassava farmers who complained about the selling price of cassava and the provisions on starch content which had become a polemic in Lampung. So that several parties urged the government to immediately take concrete steps to stabilize cassava prices.

“This visit is still related to finding a solution to the cassava problem. If it is not resolved immediately, it is not impossible that farmers will abandon cassava and switch to other crops. Hopefully in the near future this problem can find a middle ground,” said Dyah.

He emphasized that Lampung is a center for cassava plants. As is known, cassava is an alternative food besides rice, he added.
