Deputy Regent of Sumbawa Working Visit to PT GGP

Deputy Regent of Sumbawa Dewy Noviany made a Working Visit (Kunker) to PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) on Monday, September 21, 2021 in Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung. The visit was carried out in order to see firsthand the process of cultivating pineapple and banana plants in a modern way.

As is well known, PT GGP’s pineapple and banana cultivation is located on an area of approximately 32,000 hectares which is integrated and the largest in the world. Through modern processes, PT GGP can produce 1,000 containers of canned pineapple per month and export to more than 60 countries.

During the visit, Dewy Noviany also had the opportunity to visit the banana packing process facility, which is one of PT GGP’s business units for fresh fruit products. PT GGP’s banana products in addition to meeting the needs of the domestic market have also been exported to Taiwan and the Middle East.

“Everything is of high quality, the pineapple and banana processing activities are carried out in a modern way with the application of efficiency in the production process. This is an illustration that the plantation industrialization process can be carried out optimally and modernly,” said Dewy Noviany.

Looking at the geographical location of the plantations around the PT GGP company, Dewy Noviany is optimistic that the southern region of Sumbawa can be optimized to become an integrated agricultural and plantation location. “The Sumbawa Regional Government will convince investors if they need to pick up the ball. We will explore the possibility of cooperation with PT GGP for the development of a food estate,” said Dewy Noviany.

Dewy said that with the presence of investment, Sumbawa’s natural wealth could be further developed. Resources must be properly utilized for the benefit of society. It will eventually be known as a glorious and civilized country.
