Furthermore, Askolani said that the survival of PT GGP’s business during the pandemic really helped socio-economic activities around the plantation industrial area. This will be mapped and monitored so that the implementation of the facilities provided can be used as input in other places.

Corporate Affairs Director PT GGP Welly Soegiono emphasized that during the Covid-19 pandemic the volume of canned pineapple production showed an increase, even though the downstreaming was not going well. “PT GGP can produce good quality competitively because it is facilitated by Customs,” said Welly.

Welly is of the opinion that a good customs policy must be supported by the same ministry’s policies. This is so that the technical downstreaming is good, so that good policies can be maximized. In addition, Welly hopes that the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) can help the upstream to downstream processes.

At the end of the visit, the Director General of Customs and Excise, Askolani and his staff had the opportunity to take a close look at the canned pineapple production process at the Cannery dam and continued by reviewing the cattle fattening business at PT Great Giant Livestock (GGL).
