Tommy Watimena has officially become CEO of Great Giant Foods (GGF). A company that has a vertically integrated food business line, where one of its subsidiaries is PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) which is the controlling shareholder of PT Sreeya Sewu Indonesia Tbk.

As the new CEO of GGF, Tommy Watimena directly came to Lampung to introduce himself to the Top Management of GGF Lampung, which is a part of the Gunung Sewu Group (GSG) business. In front of the leaders of GGF Lampung, he started by first telling about his childhood.

“When I was little, I moved to Malang, where I was put in a dormitory in the hope that it would help me develop myself. It turns out that even though I live in a hostel, I still need time to develop myself. I was never ranked in school, but I always tried to improve what I received at the time . I came to Lampung at this time wanting to learn, in the question and answer session later I will not only ask questions but also give input,” said Tommy, laughing.

Great Giant Foods (GGF) welcomed the visit of the Mayor of Pangkalpinang at GGF Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung. The arrival of Pangkalpinang Mayor Maulan Aklil and representatives of the Cattle and Poultry Farmers Association in Pangkalpinang City was held on Thursday, January 20, 2022. The Mayor’s delegation was received directly by the Finance, Accounting & IT Manager of PT Great Giant Livestock (GGL) Ferdy at the Training Center Building.

Before conducting a field visit to see firsthand the process of breeding and fattening cattle at PT GGL, Ferdy explained about the process of PIR Cow partnership pattern with the community. “Essentially PT GGL provides assistance, provides feed, and farmers carry out care and maintenance. At harvest, the cows will be returned to PT GGL as a market guarantor,” explained Ferdy.

Ferdy said that livestock has a very big opportunity. National meat consumption per capita is 2.57 kg per year, far below Malaysia and the Philippines which reached 8 kg, and Australia was the highest with 14 kg per year per person. The breeding business of cattle is very much affected by infrastructure.

If you learn from the problems faced by cattle breeding businesses that are integrated with oil palm in Kalimantan. that the biggest problem is transportation. So that the resulting cattle have a hampered sales process. Responding to the plan, Maulan Aklil gladly accepted that PT GGL could realize a cow partnership scheme with the community.

“We are happy to accept if there is an offer for this collaboration, the most important thing is that it does not have bureaucracy and all kinds of things that are long or complicated. The funding for Bank Sumsel-Babel is okay, everyone is ready to help through KUR and the guarantee is the mayor,” said Maulan Aklil, Mayor of Pangkalpinang, Maulan Aklil.

Said that coming to PT GGL to study, as mayor will be accountable to the community. A land of 60 hectares is ready for cooperation, if it continues there will be many other lands. Investment over the last three years in Pangkalpiang has come in at almost IDR 2 trillion.

Great Giant Foods (GGF) received a visit from the Head of the Regional National Intelligence Agency (Kabinda) Lampung Iwan Satriawan and staff in Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Kabinda Lampung was received directly by GGF Managing Director Wayan Ardana accompanied by Sn. Manager of Corporate Affairs Hendri Tanujaya at the Dining Room Training Center GGF.

Iwan Satriawan in his speech explained that his arrival at GGF wanted to see firsthand GGF managing the land it owns. According to Iwan, the management carried out by GGF is very good, it can absorb workers. The process carried out by GGF using an integrated concept where all components can be used for national security is very good for sustainability.

“Don’t let our workers go abroad, even though our land is still large enough to absorb workers. Through the food industry alone, it can become an exporter country and fulfill domestic needs. GGF is very good in contributing to national food security,” said Iwan.

According to Iwan, GGF can become a national food barn that meets the needs of the island of Java. President Joko Widodo said that the food estate is a long-term program by the Indonesian government aimed at maintaining domestic food security.

“GGF has done this, we really encourage GGF to expand not only in Lampung, but also in Indonesia. National food security which consists of 6 pillars, one of which is availability. There are lots of supplies, such as milk, meat, and fruits,” concluded Iwan

The Management of Great Giant Foods (GGF) Terbanggibesar, Central Lampung received a working visit from the Head of the Kartika Eka Paksi Foundation (YKEP) Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Tatang Sulaiman and his team regarding the plan to explore cooperation on Thursday, January 13, 2022.

During a working visit at GGF, Tatang Sulaiman brought along the YKEP management including Head of the Business & Investment Planning Section Widhayat, Head of Welfare Abdul Karim, Head of Business & Investment Syafi’ul, and YKEP’s Legal Staff for Perdatun Wawan Rusliawan.

“We from YKEP came to see and learn how the plantations and livestock managed by GGF are professionally managed with good business management because they are managed in an integrated manner. I think today we will get a good lesson from the visit at GGF,” said Tatang Sulaiman.

The guest group was accompanied by Managing Director – Sales & Marketing of PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) Member of GGF Josep Lay, Director of External Affairs Welly Soegiono, and Senior Manager Corporate Affairs Hendri Tanujaya to see one by one the business units run by GGF. These are the canned pineapple production process, the pineapple harvesting process, the Cavendish banana plantation, the crystal guava packing process, cattle fattening and the fresh milk business of PT Great Giant Livestock (GGL).

YKEP sees that GGF has successfully managed its plantation business. YKEP which also owns cocoa, banana, and oil palm plantations hopes to run it with good management like GGF. “YKEP wants to establish cooperation, because I see GGF’s cooperation with the community is also good, especially cooperation between institutions. The partnership patterns built by GGF need to be applied,” said Tatang, a 1986 graduate of the Military Academy.
